Paitan chashu ramen is the BEST!!

Stopped by before the Great Rubber Ducky race on the recommendation of a local foodie I know and going to give it an OK.

On the bright side the decor is awesome, the pork was the best soup pork I have had in ramen in Hawaii (thick and tender, truly delicious), and the price was reasonable. On the downside the service was insanely slow (spent fifteen minutes standing there waiting to be seated while I stared at three empty tables ... didn't even see the staff, they were hiding out back or something), the ramen broth itself nothing special (though not bad to be honest), and the appetizers so so. They also suffer from that standard Asian problem in Hawaii where the food comes out as they make it as opposed to all together and/or in some sort of order that makes sense to westerners (i.e. I got my appetizer after my main course as I was getting up to leave and already had the check. My wife got her food five minutes before me) but I have gotten use to that here in Hawaii.

Overall it's an OK place and probably rates the third best ramen joint I have had in Honolulu; worth stopping by if you are in the area and don't have a car. If I didn't have to wait more than five minutes in line with the place was half empty I probably would have given it four stars but I did. It also doesn't help the best ramen I've had in Hawaii about two miles east of here and I've never had to wait more than five minutes there.
