I hate to be that girl....but I must always remain honest and candid. Driving up to this establishment it definitely looked a little sketchy but that adage, "Never judge a book by its cover" came to mind. I shook off my prejudgment and continued.

As I walked in I was still a bit hesitant because it looked really "divey." However, I was met with warm greetings and smiles. The place really has a comforting, homey feel to it, albeit small. The bartender was uber friendly and immediately asked what I'd like to drink. I opted for a house Margarita. It was quite southern tasting, not bad, but every bartender has their own take. Although I wished he'd asked if I wanted salt/sugar. He assumed I wanted sugar b/c that's exactly what was on the rim. No biggie--but I usually don't opt for either.

I really, really, REALLY wanted some fresh, tasty oysters. I mean I've had this place bookmarked for over 2 months. And it was between this locale and Capitol Oyster Bar. I think I chose this place simply because another Yelper mentioned that Capitol Oyster Bar was a bit difficult to find.

Anyway, I ordered 1/2 dozen Texas Oysters and 1/2 dozen Rockefeller Oysters. I was ready to dive all the way in when they arrived....I was highly disappointed however. It was definitely the hardened cheese on top that failed these oysters. I know food, it's what I do best. These oysters were not it. I ate two from each plate. That was it. Nothing more.

Now Yelpers, I have zero problems paying for what I ordered--I'm not one of those that demand that the order is free or replaced....unless absolutely needed. But I also don't have any problem letting management know my valid concerns. They did ask if they could fix the dish, but I honestly I didn't even want a repeat of any oysters at this juncture. I was over it and greatly disappointed.

I paid, tipped for the drink and left. Sadly, I will not be returning.

Excellent food and service...at a great price! This place is fantastic for family and/or fun. Very nice ambiance. Several flat screen TV's, a separate bar with seating AND it has a large additional dining room that can be rented for private events and parties! The service is EXCELLENT! The manager/owner personally came to our table to say hello, check on us, and remembered our names!

We've been back twice already :).

First, upon entering, there was no host, nor sign that stated "seat yourself", so we ended up standing there for a few minutes looking like idiots, waiting for any acknowledgement or direction. Great way to start a meal. Without direction or instruction, we seated ourselves.
Second, the tables were greasy and sticky. Not just one, but all. The two visible employees, one behind the bar, the other moving like winter molasses was the waitress. After seating ourselves, and a healthy ten minute wait, our server finally graced us with an appearance. Once we placed our drink orders it was another ten minutes to get our water. The bourbon and Coke arrived eight minutes after being ordered, was over iced, but decently mixed.
Now, it should be said, that the words PUB and OYSTER BAR come with several assumptions. One: you have a beer selection that extends beyond what I can purchase in a 24 pack at Walmart, or simple watered down light beers, of which you had an amazing four on tap and one cider. Progressive PUB indeed. OYSTER BAR-denotes raw oysters, in fact, the menu is made up of a plethora of oyster dishes. None of which are available, since they no longer serve oysters in any other preparation than FRIED. As you can imagine, since the reason I came to this establishment was for the PUB and OYSTER BAR, for which it bares in it's name, finding out that they neither had the PUB beer selection, or the OYSTERS for which an OYSTER BAR is created. However, they do offer watery white fish with a dollop of crayfish for a reasonable 15 dollars, 12 moderately seasoned and overcooked shrimp for a great deal of 12 dollars. A cheese-less chicken quesadilla for an incredible bargain rate of 9 dollars. Since we were the only table in the restaurant, other than the bar patrons, you would think that the service time would at least be prompt and the server would be diligent in her task to at least keep the glasses full, or offer a second cocktail. This was in fact, surprising, not the case.
This restaurant goes from beginning to end, like a train wreck you just have to watch. Perhaps I was surprised that lamp dried french fries, gummy okra, and barely seasoned over breaded green beans, our ticket was almost 80 dollars. I wouldn't complain if the food or the service hadn't left such a foul taste in my mouth. I should have walked out the door the moment they said they no longer carried raw oysters.

Suggestions to management: Post a notice that you, a purported OYSTER BAR, do not in fact carry RAW OYSTERS. It's false advertising at worst, and at best, a bait and switch.
