"Small" and "easily overlooked", this Japanese is worth seeking out when in the Village given its "outstanding", "unusual" sushi and cooked items; though the setting is "nondescript", fans focus on its "warm" vibe and favorable "quality-to-price ratio."

I had the fortune of being served by a wonderful, attentive waiter! Everything was nicely plated - the sushi and sashimi were both pleasing to the eyes and palate :) I would definitely go again when I'm back in the area! Eat: uni, any sashimi covered with black truffle.

Had the Omakase chef's special sushi and sashimi. Were very good about remaking a piece of sushi without wasabi when asked. Very fresh ingredients. Omakase experience on par with Uni of Boston. Plum wine was well chosen. Would return.

Behind the non-descript, plain store-front is an outstanding sushi restaurant. Friendly service, great food, humble master chefs. If you want action and attitude and the "in" crowd, go somewhere else. If you want consistently good to excellent, well-prepared food, this is the restaurant for you.

I just wanted a quick meal. I had had a rough day at the DMV and needed something quick to eat.

My mood was lifted straight away with the lovely welcome. I ordered the Bento Box (Salmon Teriyaki) and was shocked by the amount of food I was getting for $11.50. There were other Bento Boxes for $10, but I think seafood always costs a little more.

The food was very nice, potentially a little oily or sauce heavy - but most people like that and is just a very minor observation.

When I was finished the sushi chef behind the glass table holding all the seafood noticed. Even though his english was very poor, he asked me twice is everything was definitely okay? I realised it must have been because I hadn't eaten everything, because I was full. I thought that was nice as most waiters or chefs don't really care either way, they just want your money.

All in all, I would go back for sure.

Thanks to my friends who introduced me to this new Japanese restaurant, I found a new spot that serves fresh high quality sashimi. The space is small and there are two sushi chefs behind the counter. There aren't many seats here but has a cozy and modern atmosphere. The waiters are very friendly and polite.

We were seated immediately and provided with hot towels! We started our meal with their special miso soup. I know miso soup is usually quite bland but this bowl actually has tofu skin inside as well as silk tofu. The broth has a nice miso fragrance.

My husband and I ordered the yuba pouch to start. Yuba pouch is the soft tofu skin topped with fresh mushrooms. The dish is very tasty and I can't stop eating it. We also got a plate of sashimi deluxe to share. I am no sashimi expert but the deluxe plate is very very fresh. They gave us some special pieces such as Japanese Jack and Silver Jack and they are all delicious. The sashimi size is also quite generous. We did get another Numaro Roll, which is cucumber roll with yellow tail. It is very refreshing.

Overall, Yuba is a great Japanese restaurant to enjoy premium quality sashimi and try their tofu skin specialties. Their rolls are fresh but lack creativity if you are used to those heavy-sauced maki rolls.

We will definitely come back for more!
