"Upbeat" and "crowded" with "good-looking" types, this "colorful" East Villager mixes "better-than-average", well-priced Pan-Latin fare with "killer" drinks; it gets "loud" and service can lag, but for "people-watching" by the open doors and windows, it's hard to beat.

Couldn't think that so homophobic slurs could be said on the LES, this is a late post but 4 months ago one of the bartenders called a gay friend maricon which roughly translates to f*ggot, the only "provocation" being asking for the check. Used to go here all the time but with these sort of backward attitude, will never return.

I've been here a few times. The food is excellent. Sometimes, I dream about their Plantano Relleno (sweet plantain filled with pulled pork topped with some sour cream). There's happy hour from 1pm - 8 pm Sundays-Thursdays (be careful as the sangria is stronger than it tastes). I like going on Tuesdays when the tapas are all half priced.

The only problems with this place are that it gets really crowded because of their happy hour specials and the noise level is quite high. Overall, a great experience, but definitely get there early.

I come to this place more often than I would like to admit (so much for my try new restaurants rule) but you can't beat good food and great prices. I love their Tuesday 1/2 price tapas and Happy Hour drink specials (5-8pm). I've also been there for brunch on Sundays and it's inexpensive as well ($13.95 for entree + cocktail). The only drawback is that it's a small place so it's hard to fit big groups.

Yuca Bar is my go-to spot for excellent sangria - naye, the best sangria in the city (outside my house... ladies, feel free to verify ;)) Their pitchers are not a bad deal, at about 32$ for a large which will get you approx 6 glasses or so depending on your pour - this is also a great way to eat all those veggies you've been shirking.
On Tuesdays they have half-off tapas + normal happy hour, and the ambiance is ridiculous - make sure you get here early to score a table. Also, be aware it will be -way- too loud to hold any conversation of sustenance; but you didn't come here to talk. You came here to drink, gorge yourself on great Spanish and Venezuelan tapas and stumble yourself to the next bar.
