A "local favorite", this "reliable" St. Louis Park bakery/cafe dispenses "consistently excellent" fare, from Jewish deli standbys, salads and "high-quality" entrees to signature cupcakes and other "fabulous desserts"; its "self-service" "cafeteria format" helps make it "kid"-friendly and modest tabs add to the appeal.

Beautiful, Delicious, Fresh Food! It's a nice-clean place not made for a crowd but child-friendly. The bakery is very simple, not as special as the food. The staff is always helpful.

What can I say? Amazing food, entertaining and comfortable atmosphere and most importantly, amazing and dedicated employees.

The employees at Kitchen Yum are thee best in the business and make you want to keep coming back.

Highly recommended and you can't go wrong with any of the menu options.

This review is for the Minnetonka location. I will not return there for lunch as the noise level is off the charts! Also it was so busy I was afraid we wouldn't have a place to sit by the time our food was ready. We did finally get a table but it really is no fun standing over people waiting for them to leave. The food was ok but not worth putting up with the noise.

Outstanding lunch today at the new Yum location in Minnetonka off of Shady Oak. It was crazy busy but the atmosphere was terrific. We got there at 11:50am and it took 20 minutes of standing in line before we were able to order because of the huge demand! It took 15 minutes to get the food but that was fine. The environment is fantastic and the Southwest Panini was delicious! We will be back!

So, I initially decided to go to Yum based on it appearing in a CityPages list of top places to eat with kids in the Twin Cities. Well, this is a tale of 2 experiences...

First, the food: The food, each time I've gone is very good. I've tried the mussels, fish tacos, chicken salad and fish and chips. They certainly know how to cook and the atmosphere is open and bright witch makes it feel like you're outside even when you're not. However, that is where the fun ends.

If you have more than one kid, don't take them here, its a disaster. Issue #1: Menu: There is no kids menu, which seems strange given that its a "kid-friendly" restaurant. Then, if you just want to peruse the menu from a location you can actually see it, you are ALWAYS in someone's way. You cannot just stand at the counter and look (which is a requirement with no kids menu) if you have kids. You will either be in the way of the folks delivering food to the tables or the other patrons trying to order. They jam everyone that is pre-meal into a tiny space and then fill it up with tables full of toys/gadgets for sale that inevitably, a kid is going to get into. Issue #2: Ordering: Anyone with kids knows, ordering food is not always a smooth process. But, at Yum, you are queued up and at any time there are at least 1-3 people/parties waiting behind you to order and as said before, there is no where to just stand to the side to figure it all out. You are there, with a cashier staring at you mumbling answers(?) to your questions which are inaudible and you have a stack of hungry folks behind you wanting to eat. Pressure's on...After you've managed to order and find a table things go much better, but it just isn't worth the hassle. Oh, and if you need a booster seat, you won't find one. They do have the wooden high chairs but no boosters. D'Amico & Sons is a way better option for a family meal IMO.
