This is a bar after a Detroiters heart minus the Wings. Beer selection might not be good enough for Portlanders. The vibe is an older dive, with lots of black shirts. Older punks, biker types, goths, and jaded burners. Some yuppies, but not many hipsters from what I've seen.

Great place - you can be insider or especially outside is very nice. Great music (more rocky) and very friendly staff. Just a really cool place

My favorite bar in the city! Very friendly staff and great service. It can get very crowded during happy hour and on the weekends.

Their tots are great, as are their veggie burgers, and tacos. Their spicy pickle backs are my absolute favorite! They often give free shots, and on my birthday they gave me a balloon and hostess cupcake!

On Sunday nights, they have a paper airplane contest for whoever can fly their plane the farthest. It's a great place to have a good time, with a very spunky energy.

Some people I know call Zeitgeist the best bar in San Francisco. I'm not 100% sure yet, but I'll agree it's pretty great! The crowd here is pretty laid back, there's good beer, the well drinks are served in pint glasses, there's bar food and a pool table, and the backyard is pretty great.

My only hesitation is that the bar gets pretty packed on weekends and I'm not a huge fan of crowds -- but if you're looking for fun, showing friends around the city, or want to meet some new people, Zeitgeist is a pretty good bet!

Hop on your fixie and join the colorful crowd – heavy on hipsters and bike messengers – at this legendary punk-style biergarten in the Mission where outdoor seating at long tables encourages you to meet others; their killer Bloody Marys are perfect for curing your hangover or creating one, and the inexpensive drafts are also popular, though you might get your beer by the pitcher so as to avoid the surly bartenders.
