I would give less than a whole star but google won't let me.

We booked for a small group c.10 people a few weeks before. The day of the dinner I called to check on the reservation and they said they received a booking for 100 people so they were pushing us to a really horrible room upstairs. They also said we needed to be out in 2 hours. I thought, well, we can eat an appetizer and a main course then I'll take the group out for drinks.

No sooner we get there they move us to an even worse room where we clearly don't fit and are forcing their fixed menu on us. I mean forcing! They were being very close to verbally abusive. They didn't pour the wine they brought it already open and just plopped it on the table.

I asked the waiter to speak to the manager and he got angry with me saying it wasn't his fault and good luck finding another place anyway. Then a guy who fancied himself king-waiter shows up and he's just oozing attitude. He gets the bottle of wine and tries to pour it in my glass. I tell him no thanks because we will be leaving. He pours it anyway. I asked, no getting upset, why did he pour it. With a smurk I really wanted to wipe off said, "We are going to throw it away anyway. Might as well drink it." Oh man, was I hot then. I told him he should go away and instead he stepped in closer. I was raised in a neighborhood where doing that meant something. I was there with my team so I had to sublimate my instinct. Well, it came to nothing. We found a really nice tapas place around the corner. The waiter there was awesome and we had a great time. I admit it took me a good half hour to cool off a little but it was chilly that evening.

I for sure would never, ever reccomend this place. Service alone is lacking completely and what I could see of the food being served, it looked like it was sitting around for a long while, maybe even frozen and then just reheated when ordered.

1/3 of a star!

The food was mediocre italian at best with an especially rude waiter. Ended up waiting for 20-25 minutes just for our change once the bill was paid after getting attention of waiter and host numerous times. Apparently the reason was because he needed to request change from the bar (understandable) but to take so long to do so and to purposely be rude afterwards seems unprofessional and wrong for someone working in the service industry.

This is my first time at Zingari and I went with a prepurchased coupon "$45 for a four course meal with wine pairing" ($90 value). I made reservations so I got a table right away. I only bought one ticket because my date does not drink wine. The waitress, Renee was really nice but when I showed her the coupon, she seemed a little nervous and said let me show my manager to see if we can accept this. The manager came back to said that he will accept this coupon only if we both order the same 4 course meal. And he wants me to pay $90 for the second meal instead of offering me another $45 offer. He said it is a deal cuz we will be buying one meal and getting one free. I was mad and told him that the writing on the coupon does not say we need to purchase 2 meals and pay $90 for the second one and my coupon is prepaid so that does not mean Zingari is giving me a free meal. The manager insist that I either do that or he will give me $40 worth of credit on the coupon. I did not want the pay $90 for another 4 course meal or lose the coupon and we had a movie to catch so I took the $40 coupon value. I am giving one star for the atmosphere of the restaurant and one star to the waitress Renee cuz she was the only one who came later to apologize and gave me a free desert for the loss of the $5 value. So I thanked her and tipped her but the manager should get no part of the tip. The food was not very tasteful, expensive, and small size

Our theatre group attending ACT Saturday matinees, love dining at Zingari Ristorante for lunch or dinner. Elegant and delicious. Attentive service too. Live music to dance the night away afterwards. A San Francisco gem. Melita from San Jose

This was a great find in downtown San Fran! The shrimp ravioli dish had good flavor. The best part was the live nightly jazz music in the bar/lounge. There was a bassist, pianist, and singer. Very professional and legit. The best live jazz music I had ever heard. I thought it was a recording. I would definitely recommend this place. Make sure you sit in the lounge to enjoy the music.
