Z's Oyster Bar & Steakhouse, Indianapolis, Indiana Restaurant Details

Food:

We have always enjoyed Z's for special occasions because their wait staff was so knowledgeable and thoughtful and the food and wine was superb. We went tonight to celebrate our 50th anniversary and Dave, the waiter was clueless. We ordered a flight of wine and a 1/2 dozen oysters EACH and he brought one of each since he thought we were sharing. I have had a tastier Caesar's salad at Charleston's with more flavor and more than two anchovies. Although told that it was our 50th anniversary, David made no effort to help us celebrate (although on earlier occasions, when we celebrated birthdays, little cakes were brought out). The entrees were great but the service has turned this into an ordinary high priced dining experience and we probably won't go back.

Z's Oyster Bar & Steakhouse is my new favorite restaurant. We had the Mongchong (the freshest seafood in Indianapolis) and the Prime Filet. This place does Seafood and Steak better than anyone in Indianapolis. The chef himself picks up the Seafood from the airport! We also had a bottle of wine that was half price because we went on Friday. The prices for wine were already reasonable but half price was amazing. We sat in the lakeside dining room and the service was impecable. Such a beautiful restaurant I'm surprised it's not full every night. We are going back on Wednesday for the half price oysters! Can't Wait!

Food:

My wife and I had dinner at Z's last evening prior to a concert at Conseco and had one of the most memorable dining experiences of our lives. The rack of lamb was beyond superb and the accompaniments such as the au gratin potatoes and garlic spinach were delectable. The service was impeccable and, while pricey, Z's if definitely the place for that special night out with your significant other or a business dinner with an important client.

The decor is elegant yet contemporary and comfortable without stuffiness. Eric, the general manager, came by to ensure that our experience was up to our expectations and I was obligated to tell him that Z's will now top my list of fine dining establishments in Indy.
