Zupan's, Portland, Oregon Restaurant Details

Food:

Always great food, though it can get a bit overpriced, and generally you can find better produce at some of the other grocery stores in the area.

I don't mind expensive food if it's worth it, but Zupan's is almost laughable in the overpricing of its run-of-the-mill offerings. It's as if they've repackaged Fred Meyer quality food, added "Artisan" to the name, and doubled the price on every single product in the store. I've encountered plenty of nice folks working there, but some of the people behind the deli/bakery counter seem to be having a bad day every time I go in the store.

I really wish there was a less expensive and/or better quality grocer near my job! Until then, I guess I'll still frequent Zupan's and write reviews like this is one in a passive-aggressive, and admittedly ill-fated attempt at getting them to change their ways...

I needed two things on Christmas eve and they were closed! Nothing said they closed before 10 pm. Im very disappointed.

Food:

We visit Zupan's for the deli counter and the meat section. The food is expensive but the quality is exceptionally high. The French ham, the sliders and the fresh chicken breasts are favorites and there are often specials in the meat department.

Food:

Pro: Beautifully curated, great selection of brands and friendly staff. In fact, the staff are the shining star here.

Con: Way, way overpriced; even far above New Seasons and Whole Foods, which are staples for me. Every time I come, I spend $30+ on 3-5 last-minute items. The price markup is insane here, and that's after considering higher prices for higher quality food. I will not come here again if I can help it.
